Only 30 mins north from Quebec City, Canyon Sainte-Anne is a beautiful gorge, carved by the Sainte-Anne-du-Nord River with a drop of 75 meters waterfall. With three suspension footbridges and many overlooks, you will not miss a drop. The hike is circular, from the main entrance, along bridges, walking on both sides of the gorge, first downhill until reaching the bottom of the canyon and then climbing uphill. Other activities are available in the park, Air Canyon, a high-speed short and zipline experience, 90 meters above the gorge and also rock climbing – via Ferrata.

Charlevoix Road Trip
Oh, Charlevoix! The region with the nicest landscape and views of the St Lawerence River. Route Des Saveurs is a road along green hills and mountains with numerous local producers. We were hopping from one artisan shop and producer to the other, and the views, oh the views! This post is about our week in the Charlevoix area in the summer, where we visited farms, art boutiques, pottery shops, restaurants, and beaches. All suitable for families with kids.
Jacques Cartier National Park Les Cascades
The nicest Sepaq park in terms of scenery (out of the 9 we have visited so far), located in the Laurentian Mountains, 50km north from Quebec City. This post is about our 4km loop winter walk “Les Cascades”, a relatively simple walk for families (difference in altitude about 40m). The walk is beside a stream (mostly frozen in the winter) and inside a forest, reaching a viewpoint of the Sautauriski mountain. The first part of the walk is along the Jacques Cartier River, starting at the Sepaq discovery and visitor centre (at km 10).
Ski Stoneham is an impressive ski station, 30 minutes from Quebec City. The large and well-organized ski station offers 42 ski trails, a snow park and an ideal area for kids to learn to ski/snowboard with two magic carpets (one simple slope and one steeper slope). Kids under 7 go free!
Shrine of Sainte Anne of Beaupre
We had a lovely visit to this beautiful basilica located along the St Lawerence River nearby Quebec City. If you are in the area, the place is worth the visit!
Valcartier Winter Playground
One word: Wow! What a day! We spent a full day at the Village Vacances Valcartier beginning of the winter and we didn’t want to leave the place! The park has more than 35 snow slides to go down with a yellow tube, snow rafting, skating and much more.
Ski Mont Sainte Anne
The best ski area for beginners we have yet come across, the bunny hill located at the base of the mountain offers two adjacent magic carpets – the one on the right for very beginners with a tiny slope and the one on the left with a steeper hill, but moderately easy for young kids who are learning to ski for the first time.
